Cardiac imaging services performed at AU Health

Imaging tests allow us to visualize the organs in the chest, such as the heart, lungs, and surrounding blood vessels to look for signs of cardiovascular disease. We perform:

  • AIC accreditation badgeEchocardiogram: Also called an "echo" uses soundwaves (ultrasound) to produce images of your heart. We are accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission in all 3 imaging specialties:
    • Adult transthoracic echocardiography
    • Transesophageal echocardiography
    • Stress echocardiography
  • Stress testing: Tests that put physical demand on the heart muscle, these include exercise, echocardiograpy, nuclear, and pharmacological stress tests.
  • Coronary calcium screening: CT scans "slices" of your heart to check if calcium is present.
  • Coronary CT angiogram: Uses multiple x-rays to create a cross section of your heart.
  • Cardiac MRI: Uses a magnetic field and radiofrequency waves to produce detailed images of your heart and blood vessels.
