The Academic Health Center Advantage

As the region’s only academic health center, we offer you a remarkable advantage when it comes to your health care. We offer access to the latest treatments, caregivers who partner with you at every step and everything dedicated to advancing your options, health and life.

Academic health centers differ from community hospitals in the following ways:

  • Patients have access to a full range of primary, specialty and subspecialty care given by board-certified and fellowship-trained specialists – the most advanced level of education and training in health care.
  • Physicians are constantly translating discoveries into new treatment options that revolutionize the world of medicine. Best of all, they offer them to their patients first. That includes offering clinical trials, which connect qualifying patients with treatments and/or counsel free of charge.
  • Academic health centers teach tomorrow’s health care professionals, and the only way to do this is to stay on top of the latest treatments and tools. In turn, the providers are challenged by this culture of continuous learning. This benefits patients by leading to better care and health outcomes.

That’s the power of an academic health center. And in this region it’s only at Augusta University. Our team of caregivers is renowned for partnering with you, starting with your routine care. At every step, we’re dedicated to helping you advance your options, health and life.
