Tania K. Arora, MD, FACS, FSSO

Dr. Arora was born in London and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia. She attended UVA for her undergraduate education and stayed on in Richmond for her Medical and Surgical Training. Upon completing Fellowship, Dr. Arora was in practice in Pennsylvania. She joined AU because of the strength of the Surgery department, the innovation of the cancer center, and the caring nurses, students, residents, and physicians whom she gets to work with. She enjoys travelling to new places and spending time with family.

  • Clinical Interests

    Dr. Arora's surgical interests include treatment of cancers and diseases of the neck (thyroid and parathyroid), breast, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, small and large intestine, skin (sarcoma, melanoma, merckle cell). She is interested in using minimally invasive (laparoscopy and robotics) wherever possible. She is actively engaged in the Breast and GI tumor boards at AU to collaborate in the best care possible for her patients. She regularly attends national meetings to stay up to date on new techniques and advances in cancer-care.

    Dr. Arora's research interests are:
    1. improving clinical outcomes in cancer patients
    2. curriculum design and implementation
    3. diversity and inclusion in surgery
    4. quality improvement in healthcare and education

  • Philosophy of Care

    Dr. Arora believes the partnership between herself and the patient is of utmost importance. She is committed to giving patients and their families the time and information needed to navigate the steps of the work-up, treatment and recovery.
